"I just ate a bone"

“I ate a bone” is what I just heard out of Miss Layla... I almost jump up to find out one where she got a bone in her breakfast and two why would she eat it?! You'll have to forgive me because my memory is less than perfect most days but I quickly remembered that I had just given them the new FunBites we received a few days ago. So the “Bone” she was talking about was one she had cut out her blueberry pancakes using the Paw Patrol FunBites.

Over the last couple of months Jeramiah and Maison have become super helpful with cooking. I love it! They have been doing really good too and even ask to cook more often than not. I think some cookbooks are in order, don't you? So anytime I can think of something super simple for them to make, why not?! They wanted pancakes for breakfast Saturday so that's what they made.

They didn't know I had the Funbites in my review box for them to test out and were super excited when I dug them out. I would say they were a hit! Miss Laya who barley eats anything anymore ate 4 pancakes just so she could keep cutting them up and dipping the “Bones”. How funny!

Even as big as the boys are getting they had fun using the Paw Patrol cutter (although I doubt they would admit it and say it was just for Layla), but FunBites also sent us a square cutter that the boys used to make little squares and dipped their squares. Oh I wish I had remembered to get sugar free syrup because the mess possibilities were endless.

I liked how easy both of the cutters were for them to use. We showed them to roll the cutter slightly over their pancake and that helped break through the thickness but the FunBites come with a punch through press that if the food gets stuck in the cutter you just press the other piece through and it pushes it right out. Super easy!
I also made some fruit roll ups Saturday so look forward to those pictures coming soon! The kids are having a lot of fun with the FunBites! And it really helped with getting our picky eater to actually eat!

Now while my kids weren't exactly the creative ones this morning, I hope to be able to use some of these to make some fruit bowls coming up!  I can't wait to share those pictures with you!    Where did I come up with that idea?  FunBites has so many creative ideas on their links especially their website and Pinterest!  Be sure to check them out below!

"I can't get pregnant"

In 2013 I was diagnosed with Endometriosis. Heartbreaking yes, but finally, an answer as to why I couldn't seem to get pregnant again after all the money spent on ovulation test, counting days, taking vitamins, and clomid cycles. Oh and the clomid sucks by the way! I was mad at air for being air.... Holy smokes clomid sucks the mood swings the hot flashes, yea it was pretty awful but worth every single slightest chance that it might help us have a baby. Finally answers as to why I continued to have pain in my abdomen even after my gall bladder was removed, why I continued to have pain after having my appendix removed even though after both surgeries the surgeons stated “Well the infection wasn't really that bad but since we were there we decided to take them out to reduce any further opportunities for complications”. Thanks because I didn't need those anyways? Periods are painful, like life crippling cant walk across the room painful at times. Oh and money really was wasted on all those ovulation prediction test because my body was so nice to painfully paralyze me every single time I ovulated. There was no doubt about when I ovulate. I knew it because the pain was just as bad if not worse than the pain from my periods. Endometriosis sucks!

“So now what” I asked the doctor after he had just done exploratory surgery to see what exactly was going on down there. Well with Endometriosis, they scrape out what they can and hope for the best. The best being adding more scar tissue to my already cut up abdomen and hoping I get pregnant before it has a chance to grow back.

Oh wanna know the best part? The only true way to cure Endometriosis is getting pregnant but guess what, Endometriosis prevents getting pregnant. Makes a lot of since right? To me that meant I would never get pregnant again. I was blessed enough to have Jeramiah and Maison and I could just forget about ever having another baby again. “I can't get pregnant” would become a common phrase that I learned too well.

Well with God all things are possible.... One day we were walking through Walmart in the middle of August. I was freezing cold and mad at both boys and the hubby. Why I can't even remember but I could have killed them with that evil mommy eye. I was getting mad about everything and just completely feeling like crap lately. Then it hit me, my stomach didn't hurt... My periods never came right at 28 days but I would begin hurting several days before and could just feel it coming on. This was different, I didn't hurt.... Oh no........... No way........... No possible......... Remember “I can't get pregnant”. Maybe?

I waited a few more days, like 4 or 5 to be exact and even then didn't waste my money on the test at Wall-Mart. Off to Dollar Tree I go because I've already wasted so much money on the “what if's” I just didn't figure it would ever show a positive. But I got two just in case! Now this Back Road Momma really lives in the boonies and I already had to pee but I had a few more things to get so off to Lowe's I went. I didn't even bother with the test because “there just going to show negative anyways” and I'm kinda cramping. Maybe I started.... I'll just pee at Lowe's because I'm sure I wasted my 2 bucks at Dollar Tree and I've just started. Nope.... Home I go!

Home I go, and guess what! TWO LINES! What?!?! No way! Lets do the other one! TWO LINES AGAIN! OK back to town!!! This time Wall-Mart. 4 more test later and they are all saying the same thing.... How can this be! “I can't get pregnant”.

Well I guess I was wrong because now we're expecting a beautiful baby boy! It's been a little hard to except the reality of this sweet little one growing inside of me. Between the morning sickness, the headaches, and not to mention high blood pressure, I'm not sure why the reality was so hard to sink in. I definitely feel pregnant or more like I'm walking death most days but remember “I can't get pregnant”.

So here we are 20 weeks in, he's growing like a weed and I still hadn't told most of my family and who I had told, we didn't tell it was a sweet baby boy. At least not yet. The reality is just still sinking in. How do I tell everyone that this sweet baby is healthy, growing like a weed, and oh yea a BOY! I don't live close to most my family at just a little over an hour away so this is what we did.

Isn't that cute! I found that bear on MyBabysheartbeatbear.com and knew that would be the way! I used the ultra-sound picture from our 18 week ultra-sound, put it in the cute attached frame and stuck everything back in the box. Since I don't get to see family too much lately, (mainly because I've been so sick, tired, and not really wanting to be around people) I took it to Jeramiah's wrestling match where I knew my mom, dad, and sister would be. Here ya go Mom, I got ya something! Heck of a way to do it right? Now while I kinda wish that super soft bear was pink rather than blue (of course I already have two very stinky boys) We're ecstatic that we could share a bear like this at all!

This bear has really helped the reality sink in as well. It's been such a surprise and so hard to believe at times. The My Baby's Heartbeat Bear comes with a small heart recorder to record the baby's heartbeat at that last ultrasound appointment. So now I can squeeze the bear and play his sweet little heartbeat over and over again. Especially when I have those “This can't be real” moments.

A Kitchen Makeover with Giani Granite

Spring is in the air and with that comes spring cleaning, rearranging the house, and doing some remodeling.  When we bought our house three years ago, we knew it needed some major updates but updates means money and money doesn’t grow on trees.  So little by little we are getting there and this month’s project seems to be new kitchen counters.  Well like new…
Before

Our kitchen counters are in fair shape.  They were white, stained, and well just ugly and new granite countertops is just not something we can afford right now.  So I found Giani Granite which is a super easy and very affordable way to update any countertop.

This was a process I was able to do all on my own, which just adds that much more excitement and joy into it because there aren’t very many “house updates” I can do without the help of hubby. First I prepped the counters by giving them a good cleaning with a scuff pad and taped off where I didn’t want the paint.

Primer
The primer was super easy to apply.  I just rolled it on lightly as directed and then let dry. If you have any doubt, Giani Granite even sends you a How to DVD which I found very informative!

The next step was adding the colors.  At first I started to doubt myself, like I do with any project.  DON’T DO THIS!! IT WILL TURN OUT PERFECT! Hubby reassured me that granite itself is full of flaws so there was no way I could mess this up if I followed the directions.  Of course he was right, after I applied all three colors I really started to fall in love with the way it was turning out.

The top coat I thought was the trickiest, but like I said, I really doubted myself for no reason what so ever.  I think maybe I am a perfectionist and worry to much at times because these turned out way better than I could have ever hopped for.

Can we pretend they are real granite? Of course!  They are beautiful and I absolutely love the way they turned out!  I am choosing to do one side of the kitchen at a time because you have to let them cure before you can put appliances back on them.

After a few days, you can put light objects on them but it’s recommended that you wait 3 weeks before heavy appliances and our microwave is seriously heavy! I have about another week before I can move our appliances around and I can’t wait to finish the entire kitchen!  Don’t worry; I’ll be right back here with completed pictures as soon as I’m done.  Next step is the backsplash and the rest of the counters!

While you wait, be sure to check out Giani Granite at their following links.  For a fraction of the cost, you can update any countertop and the results are amazing!

Smoobee Hair Brush

Aly is to the point where she HATES her hair being brushed.  But that’s like most toddlers or little girls for that matter…. It’s a delicate stage period.

Smoobee has developed a solid wooden no tangle hair brush that takes the ouch out of brushing.  The bristle design worked great with her spiral curls and knotted morning mess.

Smoobee hair brush is available in three different colors and you can even order gems to decorate and personalize the brush.  Smoobee is really a one of a kind children’s hair brush!

Fiber Gourmet Snacks

Several years ago I had my gallbladder removed and eating healthy is essential to keeping my digestive system from ummm “cramping up”. Well as a busy mom I've grown custom to using coffee as my pick-me-up and to “keep me going”. But now that I've had to reduce my caffeine intake, I've been struggling with getting the fiber I need to keep myself going so I started researching fiber supplements and healthier snacks. That's how I came across Fiber Gourmet and decided to make contact with them.

I was excited with Fiber Gourmet decided to send us a case of their Cheese thinables and new Fiber Infused Toasted Wheat crackers. I'm a huge fan of Cheez-It's, and I admit it, if I'm in the snacking mood that's my cracker of choice, or was. They truly were my favorite until now. The Fiber Gourmet Cheese Thinables are even better in my opinion. They are just a tad more crunchy but packed with a lot more flavor. Plus they are HALF the calories which is a huge plus because I struggle with gaining weight when I snack. Which is why I tried to snack on Cheez-its rather than cake and brownies. The Fiber Gourmet Cheese Thinables have 11 grams of fiber in them compared to less than a gram for Cheez-its and only 60 calories compared to 140. I say that's a huge WIN!

So how do the Toasted Wheat crackers compare? Wow, even hubby loved these ones as he was eating them with his chili the other night. The kids even like both crackers and I have stuck some in the car now for longer trips and when we are busy busy. I like that I can get the Cheese Thinables in a single serving bag because with Jeramiah in wrestling he doesn't need junk food before match's and I''m packing them with a fruit cup for a snack before his meets. They really are perfect for the whole family even though I might just hoard some in my hideaway stash for myself.

I guess they'll be going on our grocery list from now on. I did see that Fiber Gourmet offers cinnamon thinables, so I'm sure I'll be grabbing a box of them next time also! I can't wait to try those!

New SKOY Products at Momma's House

A few years ago I was introduced to SKOY cloth and I have been a loyal customer ever since. I keep a set of SKOY cloths on hand in the kitchen because they do an amazing job at soaking up any spills, drying up the counters, and they are long LONG LONG lasting for helping me keep the kitchen clean. And when I say long lasting I mean once they get dirty or a little dingy looking from cleaning with them, I simply toss them in the washer and they come out good as new again. I truly love the SKOY cloth!
Yellow is brand new.  Blue is after being washed about a half dozen times and folded up in my holder.

So when I found out SKOY now offers a towel and scrubs I was super excited and just couldn't wait to get my hands on some. This week I received the SKOY towel and the SKOY scrub. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SKOY!

Yes, this towel is a little dirty but what do you expect after using it three nights to dry dishes and this morning to clean counters.  Off to the wash it goes!

I opened the towel and scrub up right away and put them to the test! The scrub is a great replacement to my traditional dish sponge and scouring pad. The scrub is rough enough to get the hardest cooked on foods right off my pots and pans but still gentle enough to use on my glasses and glass cook top stove. Since they come in a two pack, and are made from cotton and a non-toxic hardener I'm keeping one scrub in my kitchen and one under the sink for “other area's” like the bathroom and floors. Yup I said it the FLOORS! I almost always do my floors by hand, I know call me crazy but I like to get down close where I can see better and make sure I'm getting all the nooks and crannies. The scrubs are stout enough to handle even the grout and tile flooring.

So how about that towel... Several months ago we did away with the plastic dish strainer that sits beside the sink. The boys do the dishes after dinner and for the life of me the one thing they could never remember to do is tilt that plastic strainer up and let the water drain so it was getting nasty and I just couldn't handle it anymore. Yea sure I could go back to doing the dishes myself but that's their one consistent chore besides keeping their stuff picked up out of the living room and they really have got to learn eventually. When we got rid of the strainer, we simply began using a towel. Easy enough but it doesn't always allow the glasses to sit correctly and dishes easily fall over because towels are thick. It's really like a non-win situation....

The SKOY towel is thin, but just as absorbent as the SKOY cloth, and extremely soft.  That was the first thing Maison said when I told him to use it to dry the dishes last night.   Made out of recycled polyester it measures 18x24. We've been using it to both let dishes dry on top of and dry the dishes as they are being washed. I love it! Plus the design is just too cute! We got the blue towel but it also comes in red and green and is two sided. My favorite feature though of all the Skoy products, once the towel got kinda dingy I simply tossed it into the washer and it was good as new!

Now it's your turn to try SKOY!  SKOY is giving us the opportunity to host a giveaway.
