Car Seat Key Review- Where has this been all my parenthood!

A few weeks ago we received The Car Seat Key from NAMRA and oh my goodness! It's totally one of those products I just can't believe I have never known about before!

So just like it sounds, it's a “Car seat key”. How many of you have broken nails, pinched fingers, or just all around struggle with getting the car seat release button to go in. I can't tell you how many nails I broke while fostering just fighting the car seat alone. Getting my nails done was almost pointless at any given time!

But now that I'm pregnant myself, my nails are actually growing all on their own. Or maybe that's one of those magical hormonal things I have no idea. Regardless I want to do everything I can to protect them and if I'm making life just a little easier then heck ya! Double score! The Car Seat Key is AMAZING! You just slide it over the red harness release button and simply squeeze and the button's released. The Car Seat Key requires way less pressure on the release button making it easier to release and your not pushing directly on the button with your fingers saving your nails and pressure on your fingers.
So check this out....  I'm not sure if the makers of The Carseat Key realize just what they have but it works on regular seat belts as well!  The Carseat Key is so universal and great for both parents and people who suffer from arthritis or carpal tunnel.    I know so many people that could benefit from this handy little devise it's time to share!

I know it sounds so simple it's crazy! The Car Seat Key is totally one of those products I don't know how I ever lived without and why haven't I seen this sooner!! Oh my goodness you have to check them out! They are totally on my top list of “Baby Must Have's”.

"I just ate a bone"

“I ate a bone” is what I just heard out of Miss Layla... I almost jump up to find out one where she got a bone in her breakfast and two why would she eat it?! You'll have to forgive me because my memory is less than perfect most days but I quickly remembered that I had just given them the new FunBites we received a few days ago. So the “Bone” she was talking about was one she had cut out her blueberry pancakes using the Paw Patrol FunBites.

Over the last couple of months Jeramiah and Maison have become super helpful with cooking. I love it! They have been doing really good too and even ask to cook more often than not. I think some cookbooks are in order, don't you? So anytime I can think of something super simple for them to make, why not?! They wanted pancakes for breakfast Saturday so that's what they made.

They didn't know I had the Funbites in my review box for them to test out and were super excited when I dug them out. I would say they were a hit! Miss Laya who barley eats anything anymore ate 4 pancakes just so she could keep cutting them up and dipping the “Bones”. How funny!

Even as big as the boys are getting they had fun using the Paw Patrol cutter (although I doubt they would admit it and say it was just for Layla), but FunBites also sent us a square cutter that the boys used to make little squares and dipped their squares. Oh I wish I had remembered to get sugar free syrup because the mess possibilities were endless.

I liked how easy both of the cutters were for them to use. We showed them to roll the cutter slightly over their pancake and that helped break through the thickness but the FunBites come with a punch through press that if the food gets stuck in the cutter you just press the other piece through and it pushes it right out. Super easy!
I also made some fruit roll ups Saturday so look forward to those pictures coming soon! The kids are having a lot of fun with the FunBites! And it really helped with getting our picky eater to actually eat!

Now while my kids weren't exactly the creative ones this morning, I hope to be able to use some of these to make some fruit bowls coming up!  I can't wait to share those pictures with you!    Where did I come up with that idea?  FunBites has so many creative ideas on their links especially their website and Pinterest!  Be sure to check them out below!

"I can't get pregnant"

In 2013 I was diagnosed with Endometriosis. Heartbreaking yes, but finally, an answer as to why I couldn't seem to get pregnant again after all the money spent on ovulation test, counting days, taking vitamins, and clomid cycles. Oh and the clomid sucks by the way! I was mad at air for being air.... Holy smokes clomid sucks the mood swings the hot flashes, yea it was pretty awful but worth every single slightest chance that it might help us have a baby. Finally answers as to why I continued to have pain in my abdomen even after my gall bladder was removed, why I continued to have pain after having my appendix removed even though after both surgeries the surgeons stated “Well the infection wasn't really that bad but since we were there we decided to take them out to reduce any further opportunities for complications”. Thanks because I didn't need those anyways? Periods are painful, like life crippling cant walk across the room painful at times. Oh and money really was wasted on all those ovulation prediction test because my body was so nice to painfully paralyze me every single time I ovulated. There was no doubt about when I ovulate. I knew it because the pain was just as bad if not worse than the pain from my periods. Endometriosis sucks!

“So now what” I asked the doctor after he had just done exploratory surgery to see what exactly was going on down there. Well with Endometriosis, they scrape out what they can and hope for the best. The best being adding more scar tissue to my already cut up abdomen and hoping I get pregnant before it has a chance to grow back.

Oh wanna know the best part? The only true way to cure Endometriosis is getting pregnant but guess what, Endometriosis prevents getting pregnant. Makes a lot of since right? To me that meant I would never get pregnant again. I was blessed enough to have Jeramiah and Maison and I could just forget about ever having another baby again. “I can't get pregnant” would become a common phrase that I learned too well.

Well with God all things are possible.... One day we were walking through Walmart in the middle of August. I was freezing cold and mad at both boys and the hubby. Why I can't even remember but I could have killed them with that evil mommy eye. I was getting mad about everything and just completely feeling like crap lately. Then it hit me, my stomach didn't hurt... My periods never came right at 28 days but I would begin hurting several days before and could just feel it coming on. This was different, I didn't hurt.... Oh no........... No way........... No possible......... Remember “I can't get pregnant”. Maybe?

I waited a few more days, like 4 or 5 to be exact and even then didn't waste my money on the test at Wall-Mart. Off to Dollar Tree I go because I've already wasted so much money on the “what if's” I just didn't figure it would ever show a positive. But I got two just in case! Now this Back Road Momma really lives in the boonies and I already had to pee but I had a few more things to get so off to Lowe's I went. I didn't even bother with the test because “there just going to show negative anyways” and I'm kinda cramping. Maybe I started.... I'll just pee at Lowe's because I'm sure I wasted my 2 bucks at Dollar Tree and I've just started. Nope.... Home I go!

Home I go, and guess what! TWO LINES! What?!?! No way! Lets do the other one! TWO LINES AGAIN! OK back to town!!! This time Wall-Mart. 4 more test later and they are all saying the same thing.... How can this be! “I can't get pregnant”.

Well I guess I was wrong because now we're expecting a beautiful baby boy! It's been a little hard to except the reality of this sweet little one growing inside of me. Between the morning sickness, the headaches, and not to mention high blood pressure, I'm not sure why the reality was so hard to sink in. I definitely feel pregnant or more like I'm walking death most days but remember “I can't get pregnant”.

So here we are 20 weeks in, he's growing like a weed and I still hadn't told most of my family and who I had told, we didn't tell it was a sweet baby boy. At least not yet. The reality is just still sinking in. How do I tell everyone that this sweet baby is healthy, growing like a weed, and oh yea a BOY! I don't live close to most my family at just a little over an hour away so this is what we did.

Isn't that cute! I found that bear on MyBabysheartbeatbear.com and knew that would be the way! I used the ultra-sound picture from our 18 week ultra-sound, put it in the cute attached frame and stuck everything back in the box. Since I don't get to see family too much lately, (mainly because I've been so sick, tired, and not really wanting to be around people) I took it to Jeramiah's wrestling match where I knew my mom, dad, and sister would be. Here ya go Mom, I got ya something! Heck of a way to do it right? Now while I kinda wish that super soft bear was pink rather than blue (of course I already have two very stinky boys) We're ecstatic that we could share a bear like this at all!

This bear has really helped the reality sink in as well. It's been such a surprise and so hard to believe at times. The My Baby's Heartbeat Bear comes with a small heart recorder to record the baby's heartbeat at that last ultrasound appointment. So now I can squeeze the bear and play his sweet little heartbeat over and over again. Especially when I have those “This can't be real” moments.

A Kitchen Makeover with Giani Granite

Spring is in the air and with that comes spring cleaning, rearranging the house, and doing some remodeling.  When we bought our house three years ago, we knew it needed some major updates but updates means money and money doesn’t grow on trees.  So little by little we are getting there and this month’s project seems to be new kitchen counters.  Well like new…
Before

Our kitchen counters are in fair shape.  They were white, stained, and well just ugly and new granite countertops is just not something we can afford right now.  So I found Giani Granite which is a super easy and very affordable way to update any countertop.

This was a process I was able to do all on my own, which just adds that much more excitement and joy into it because there aren’t very many “house updates” I can do without the help of hubby. First I prepped the counters by giving them a good cleaning with a scuff pad and taped off where I didn’t want the paint.

Primer
The primer was super easy to apply.  I just rolled it on lightly as directed and then let dry. If you have any doubt, Giani Granite even sends you a How to DVD which I found very informative!

The next step was adding the colors.  At first I started to doubt myself, like I do with any project.  DON’T DO THIS!! IT WILL TURN OUT PERFECT! Hubby reassured me that granite itself is full of flaws so there was no way I could mess this up if I followed the directions.  Of course he was right, after I applied all three colors I really started to fall in love with the way it was turning out.

The top coat I thought was the trickiest, but like I said, I really doubted myself for no reason what so ever.  I think maybe I am a perfectionist and worry to much at times because these turned out way better than I could have ever hopped for.

Can we pretend they are real granite? Of course!  They are beautiful and I absolutely love the way they turned out!  I am choosing to do one side of the kitchen at a time because you have to let them cure before you can put appliances back on them.

After a few days, you can put light objects on them but it’s recommended that you wait 3 weeks before heavy appliances and our microwave is seriously heavy! I have about another week before I can move our appliances around and I can’t wait to finish the entire kitchen!  Don’t worry; I’ll be right back here with completed pictures as soon as I’m done.  Next step is the backsplash and the rest of the counters!

While you wait, be sure to check out Giani Granite at their following links.  For a fraction of the cost, you can update any countertop and the results are amazing!

Smoobee Hair Brush

Aly is to the point where she HATES her hair being brushed.  But that’s like most toddlers or little girls for that matter…. It’s a delicate stage period.

Smoobee has developed a solid wooden no tangle hair brush that takes the ouch out of brushing.  The bristle design worked great with her spiral curls and knotted morning mess.

Smoobee hair brush is available in three different colors and you can even order gems to decorate and personalize the brush.  Smoobee is really a one of a kind children’s hair brush!

Fiber Gourmet Snacks

Several years ago I had my gallbladder removed and eating healthy is essential to keeping my digestive system from ummm “cramping up”. Well as a busy mom I've grown custom to using coffee as my pick-me-up and to “keep me going”. But now that I've had to reduce my caffeine intake, I've been struggling with getting the fiber I need to keep myself going so I started researching fiber supplements and healthier snacks. That's how I came across Fiber Gourmet and decided to make contact with them.

I was excited with Fiber Gourmet decided to send us a case of their Cheese thinables and new Fiber Infused Toasted Wheat crackers. I'm a huge fan of Cheez-It's, and I admit it, if I'm in the snacking mood that's my cracker of choice, or was. They truly were my favorite until now. The Fiber Gourmet Cheese Thinables are even better in my opinion. They are just a tad more crunchy but packed with a lot more flavor. Plus they are HALF the calories which is a huge plus because I struggle with gaining weight when I snack. Which is why I tried to snack on Cheez-its rather than cake and brownies. The Fiber Gourmet Cheese Thinables have 11 grams of fiber in them compared to less than a gram for Cheez-its and only 60 calories compared to 140. I say that's a huge WIN!

So how do the Toasted Wheat crackers compare? Wow, even hubby loved these ones as he was eating them with his chili the other night. The kids even like both crackers and I have stuck some in the car now for longer trips and when we are busy busy. I like that I can get the Cheese Thinables in a single serving bag because with Jeramiah in wrestling he doesn't need junk food before match's and I''m packing them with a fruit cup for a snack before his meets. They really are perfect for the whole family even though I might just hoard some in my hideaway stash for myself.

I guess they'll be going on our grocery list from now on. I did see that Fiber Gourmet offers cinnamon thinables, so I'm sure I'll be grabbing a box of them next time also! I can't wait to try those!

New SKOY Products at Momma's House

A few years ago I was introduced to SKOY cloth and I have been a loyal customer ever since. I keep a set of SKOY cloths on hand in the kitchen because they do an amazing job at soaking up any spills, drying up the counters, and they are long LONG LONG lasting for helping me keep the kitchen clean. And when I say long lasting I mean once they get dirty or a little dingy looking from cleaning with them, I simply toss them in the washer and they come out good as new again. I truly love the SKOY cloth!
Yellow is brand new.  Blue is after being washed about a half dozen times and folded up in my holder.

So when I found out SKOY now offers a towel and scrubs I was super excited and just couldn't wait to get my hands on some. This week I received the SKOY towel and the SKOY scrub. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SKOY!

Yes, this towel is a little dirty but what do you expect after using it three nights to dry dishes and this morning to clean counters.  Off to the wash it goes!

I opened the towel and scrub up right away and put them to the test! The scrub is a great replacement to my traditional dish sponge and scouring pad. The scrub is rough enough to get the hardest cooked on foods right off my pots and pans but still gentle enough to use on my glasses and glass cook top stove. Since they come in a two pack, and are made from cotton and a non-toxic hardener I'm keeping one scrub in my kitchen and one under the sink for “other area's” like the bathroom and floors. Yup I said it the FLOORS! I almost always do my floors by hand, I know call me crazy but I like to get down close where I can see better and make sure I'm getting all the nooks and crannies. The scrubs are stout enough to handle even the grout and tile flooring.

So how about that towel... Several months ago we did away with the plastic dish strainer that sits beside the sink. The boys do the dishes after dinner and for the life of me the one thing they could never remember to do is tilt that plastic strainer up and let the water drain so it was getting nasty and I just couldn't handle it anymore. Yea sure I could go back to doing the dishes myself but that's their one consistent chore besides keeping their stuff picked up out of the living room and they really have got to learn eventually. When we got rid of the strainer, we simply began using a towel. Easy enough but it doesn't always allow the glasses to sit correctly and dishes easily fall over because towels are thick. It's really like a non-win situation....

The SKOY towel is thin, but just as absorbent as the SKOY cloth, and extremely soft.  That was the first thing Maison said when I told him to use it to dry the dishes last night.   Made out of recycled polyester it measures 18x24. We've been using it to both let dishes dry on top of and dry the dishes as they are being washed. I love it! Plus the design is just too cute! We got the blue towel but it also comes in red and green and is two sided. My favorite feature though of all the Skoy products, once the towel got kinda dingy I simply tossed it into the washer and it was good as new!

Now it's your turn to try SKOY!  SKOY is giving us the opportunity to host a giveaway.

Mrs. Renfro's Gourmet Foods

At the beginning of the week we received a package from Mrs. Renfro's Gourmet Foods. I knew I needed to get a few things before we began reviewing the goodies inside so I put the box on the table and simply walked until I could make a trip to the grocery store. No big deal right? Well hubby got home and the big deal became a huge deal as his excitement is still making me laugh. Apparently I had no idea what I had in this cute little box. NO!!! I had to make him stop from tearing into it as he stated “But that's my absolute favorite salsa!!” Sorry honey, I had never even heard of them. He went on to tell me exactly where I needed to go in our local grocery store to get more. “PUT THAT BOX DOWN!” I made him wait, and ever so patiently he waited as I took a picture of the packaging because I for one was impressed at how well it was packaged to handle the transit of UPS. After a disaster with Amazon I always worry about how food will arrive when being shipped but Mrs. Renfro's has it figured out!

So having still not made it to the grocery store, I let him open the Green Salsa as that one is just a little too hot for me. (I'm a wimp!) First thing he noticed was “The packaging has changed”. Then to my surprise we noticed that Mrs. Renfro's has donated over $100,000 to the fight against Breast Cancer and they remain active in community service as well as charitable organizations. That's kinda neat and makes them a top company on my list. It really warms my heart when companies give back!

Now he really REALLY likes the hot stuff and that goober has put it on eggs and pizza this week.... Yup he's my goober! But look at all that flavor!

Now that I finally got the chance to open a jar of my own, I choose the Craft Beer Salsa which is rated “Medium Hot”. It's pretty stinking good! SOOOO Full of flavor!  Now I understand why he got all worked up when he seen the Mrs. Renfro's box. Made with Texas Red Amber Ale Craft Beer I'll have to do my best not to eat it all before sharing with the kiddo's. I really wish I had a cute little salsa dish to go with this though.... Hummmm off to the store I shall go!

When I was first approached by Mrs. Renfro's I thought I would review this as the perfect appetizer or after school snack as it seems my kiddo's are always starving before dinner but I don't think it's gonna last that long in this house. I guess I better get some more while I'm at the store looking for those salsa dishes.

We also received some Classic Barbecue Sauce and Chipotle Barbecue Sauce from Mrs. Renfro's but that my dear is going to have to wait until after the weekend when we can do some grilling! I can't wait! So be sure to look forward to that post in a couple days!!

So question of the day... What's the strangest thing you have seen salsa go on? And which one of Mrs. Renfro's products would you like to try? Check them out at the following links and let us know!

And for the moment you all have been waiting for..... Mrs. Renfro's is allowing us to give away a winners choice of any four products!  WOW!   To Enter "Like" us on Facebook, (CLICK HERE) and leave a comment below telling us which one you want to try most!

Gratitude Gift Bags

I recently ran to the store to get a roll of wrapping paper for a single present and noticed the sky rocketing price… What in the world is going on that a roll of wrapping paper cost just as much as the gift I am wrapping? So here I am on the search for more reusable items to save us both some cash in the long run.

One of the items I have found is Gratitude Gift Bags which are an eco-friendly fabric gift bag that you can use over and over again saving money and time because they are so easy to use and take seconds to tie up.

One thing that surprised me is the quality and effort that goes into making these bags, assuring they will last for a long time. I was also delighted to find several different designs and learn that you can actually provide your own material to them and they will custom make your bag for you.

Between the different sizes and the different designs, these are a great buy for any occasion!

We're Back!

Well I guess it's been awhile... And by awhile I mean well over a year since I have had a chance to sit down at the computer and write again. Oh how I have missed blogging!

So much has changed in the last two years I don't even know where to begin so we will just pick up with today and go forward. I have lots of new crafts to share with you and have finally got into coupon shopping again. My DARE kids are going to LOVE all the chocolate I got this week! Yup, I have moved back to working part time and teach DARE at a local elementary school! It seems that no matter how hard life gets, or how many brick walls and test I have to surpass those kiddos make even the roughest days great!

The boys (JJ & Mr. Maison) have been begging to do some product reviews. I suppose their old enough now to let you read their opinions on whatever they think they need to be testing. Goodness gracious we all know how rough they are on things so if it passes their test I'm sure it'll be great for your home as well.

And last but not least..... We have some big news coming up!!!! All in time I promise but it's exciting and I can't wait to share with you our latest!

Boiled Wool Headband by Dorfman Pacific

In my small Missouri town it really feels like winter is knocking at our door. Festivals are almost every weekend and while we were at one yesterday it was a rainy, breezy, whopping 45 degrees out!  Needless to say we didn't stay long but I sure wish I would have had this Dorfman Pacific Headband with me!

Available at Hartford York, the fall and winter Scala Collezion collection is boiled wool hats and headbands.  I choose a headband because they are just simply more my style and I was right, I love it! Although they are wool, these headbands are still soft, stretchy, and very well made.  Plus the cute rosette embellishment really adds some style and flair.

You have to check out the other amazing products by Dorfman Pacific because they are one of the largest full-line, in-stock headwear companies in the world.

Love With Food

I love food and I know most of you love food but I have found a subscription box called “Love with Food” and I have to tell you it is going to be on my top list of favorite subscription boxes.

First off, look how full it is! Plus all 8 products were absolutely amazing!  My favorite of course is the Dark Chocolate Orange Good fortune Cookie from Emily’s Chocolates.  The chocolate was rich and the cookie didn’t fall apart when I began eating it.  This was a top of the line product for sure!

Another favorite that I enjoyed was the Wild Berry Flat Fruit from Wacky Apple.  It’s basically a fruit roll up type snack but the thickness and flavor was delightfully surprising.  At 45 calories, I wish there were more.  *tear

As if those two items didn’t cure my sweet tooth, then there is Cosmo’s Creations Salted Caramel.  One word; delicious!! Gluten Free, no Tran’s fat, no kernels and no hulls.  This was perfect because it didn’t stick to my teeth either!

One of my favorite things about Love with Food is for every box of gourmet treats they send out they will then donate a meal to a child in need.  Talk about giving back.

This is a great company with a great concept and a delicious treat all for only $10 a month.  Be sure to check them out!

Premium Quality Backseat Organizer

As soon as this Backseat Organizer arrived I took it out of the package and was really excited to get it in the car!  I love how much room it saved me. I actually took the "emergency" diaper bag out of the car and put all the essentials that were in it into this organizer. The organizer holds everything so perfectly and is a much better option than digging through a bulky diaper bag.

The organizer is perfect and just what we needed! It features special hooks at the bottom which were a great idea because instead of hanging and flapping away it's held close to the seat which just gives me that much more room.

Pampers Kandoo Products
I have always been a fan of Pampers products so it should be no surprise that you will find the Pampers logo somewhere in our house.

With us being in the heart of the flu season, hand sanitizer or hand patizer as Mr. Maison calls it, is a must! So far we have done pretty good to stay away from the flu in our house, knock on wood, but that is only with the help of products like this.

Pampers Kandoo has introduced a vitamin E enriched foaming hand sanitizer that is alcohol free!  And have you seen this cute design on the pump?  My boys love frogs and mommy used to collect them so the pump design is also a big hit.

After killing 99.9% of germs, Pampers Kandoo hand sanitizer left my hands soft and did not leave behind any film.  The kids think this one is fun to use, so I don’t have to remind them to use it.  Win win!

Check out other new Pampers Kandoo products! We also had the opportunity to use their Flushable Wipes which are unscented and made for sensitive skin.  Their thick durability is a plus for any baby job.  These were great for the boys when they were potty training or after a really bad diaper.  Yes, these Pampers Kandoo wipes have been around for a while but we will forever use them in our home.

Kopali Organics

What’s better with a cup of coffee than some chocolate?  I really can’t think of a single thing and have been muchin on Kopali Organic Chocolate all morning!

Not only are they vegan and made with 100% organic ingredients, I do believe I have found my little piece of heaven.  I had a friend a while back that was always eating chocolate cover espresso beans, and I could never understand what the purpose of that was.  Well today I got to try some first hand and not only are they pretty darn good but they contain no refined sugars, trans fat, or dairy. Plus Kopali Organics is Fair Trade Certified meaning they are directly supporting small farmers.  I have talked a little bit about what it means to be Fair Trade Certified in the past, but for Kopali Organics it means the entire process of making these delicious chocolates for you, stays in Peru so they can guarantee the highest quality of flavor and still support the farmers that put so much time and effort into each bag.

Now while my favorite was the Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans, the boys got a kick out of Organic Dark Chocolate Covered Banana.  Yes I said dark chocolate.  I am not a big fan of dark chocolate and neither are my kids, but Kopali Organics uses pure and natural sugars so I really couldn’t tell the difference.  The chocolate was really smooth and flavorful, not at all like anything you would expect.

Do I recommend Kopali Organics? Absolutly!  Not only for their flavor, but the Fair Trade Certification really means a lot in my books to.  I actually encourage you to do some research on what it means to be Fair Trade Certified, or maybe I’ll write about it more later.
