Pretty or not, shoes are shoes.  Some we have to wear without a choice and others we choose to wear to complete a style.  Regardless of which it is most shoes come with a price and that is generally sore feet.

Foot Kinetics has developed four different cream type solutions to prevent such results.  There is HikeGoo, RunGoo, SilkGoo and the one I had the honor to try WalkGoo. 

WalkGoo did just the trick for me at work in the field and in the office.  WalkGoo provided a protective coating on m feet that not only softened them just as described but I was able to go day after day switching from work boots to high heels without skipping a beat. 

At first I was a little nervous and a little queasy about putting my socks on over this white goo all over my feet… But I tell you what, it was completely worth it because at the end of the day I wasn’t dying to take my shoes off and my feet felt great!

Green Phur Slippers

Lately I have been looking for products to host in our Mothers Day selection and I thought a pair of slippers would be perfect!  After searching and searching I came across LoveSac Slippers; Slippers Phur Feet.  Sorry Mom, I’m keeping these ones for me! (maybe next time)

I love my mommy, I really do, but these slippers are great.  I guess I’ll have to order her another pair! Made by LoveSac, these slippers are hypo-allergenic and made with the softest material which is extremely comfortable and really keeps my feet warm. The rubberized sole prevents slipping which is great for me and my hardwood floors.  I have to admit, I am kind of a klutz some days.

Another thing that makes these slippers great is how nicely they are packaged up.  They really are an overall perfect gift for Mom.   Soft, warm, comfortable, easy to walk in, and affordable; what more can you ask for?

Smelly Washer

Every now and then (especially with boys in the house) the washing machine just really starts to get a funny odor.  I’ve tried using extra bleach, (which can be damaging to your clothes) or extra fabric softer, and even washing clean clothes just to run some extra water through it.  But nothing really seems to get the smell completely gone and over time it can add up.

Recently I came across Smellywasher.com.  Just as it sounds they have developed a product to eliminate the odors in not only your washer but your dishwasher to! A single bottle will do 24 treatments and last two entire years if you use it once a month as directed. 

The instructions were pretty easy; a single cap full to an empty washer.  I used the hottest setting and paused the cycle mid way to allow some extra soaking.  My washer smells brand new!

Mavericks Coffee House

As sad as it is, coffee is a necessity for my mornings.  I just can’t get motivated to do anything without a few cups of coffee.  So when I had the opportunity to try Mavericks Coffee House products I jumped for joy. 

My favorite product they sent is the Chocolate CoveredCoffee Beans.  They are dipped in imported Belgian chocolate after being slow roasted to perfection.  I love them!  The chocolate melts perfectly and the bean is slightly crunchy for a really enjoyable experience.

SkinnyPop Popcorn

There is officially popcorn all over my kitchen floor, but that’s ok I guess because one it’s SkinnyPop Popcorn, two its healthy for my kiddo’s and three they loved it!

SkinnyPop Popcorn has become a new favorite in our house.  The lightweight all natural snack is surprisingly a good source of fiber that everyone can enjoy, especially since it’s peanut, gluten, and preservative free.  Another outstanding fact about Skinny Pop, in four cups there is only 155 calories.  

SkinnyPop gets an A+ in our house!  This is a great snack for movie night or out by the pool.  Now if I could just figure out how to get the boys not to make such a mess, life would be grand!

Trash Dash

One of the top ways to eliminate cost is to eliminate waste right? Well that goes all the way down to taking out the trash only when it is full. That can mean some awfully stinky trash cans by the time we fill them all the way up. Well the creators of Trash Dash have come up with a solution for that.

OWG FOODS

Summer is right around the corner and I for one am so ready to lay out by the pool.  We love to have family gatherings with snacks and cold sweet drinks by the pool.  Although we are not really big drinkers, maybe a single glass once a month if not every two months, a sweet cold drink is always a nice treat. 

I found OWG Foods to have just that! Their new drink mixes are super easy to make and you can really make them curve to your taste and desires.  I like wine, a Mascoto wine to be exact so when I heard that I could choose my favorite wine and turn it into a Margarita flavored drink I had to give it a try.

You can mix up their mixes in a pitcher or gallon bag; I used a pitcher just because I really wanted to avoid a mess if at all possible.  1 Bottle of wine, a bottle of water, the OWG Margarita Mix d 4 hours later we have success for a delicious drink.  This was extremely easy to make. Actually the hardest part was getting the cork out of the wine bottle. 

How does it taste?  Like Kool-Aid!  I love it!  I can barley taste the alcohol which for me is a plus.  Now the mix isn’t necessary like Kool-Aid, but it’s sweet and tasty rather than a bitter alcohol flavor.  Like I said, this is perfect for us because we don’t drink very often at all.  OWG foods has scored points in this house!

The boys absolutely love music.  They love to sing, dance, and jam out all the same.  My only problem with that is they still have little growing ears that can be easily damaged by loud noises.

The boys have officially started soccer and yet again Mommy is coaching.  I have to admit I kind of enjoy it, but I really think the boys would learn more from someone other than mom. Either way, Jeramiah needed a coach so here we are.

Have you guys heard of Shooshoos? I hadn’t until I was doing some shoe shopping for baby shoes for a baby shower gift for a friend who is expecting in May, but I am so glad I came across their site!

The baby shoes that I ordered are made of all natural leather! Yes I said leather, meaning they are soft, flexible and totally comfy for your little one! I know it’s hard enough to keep shoes on a baby and that’s why I choose shooshoos baby shoes. After all if you had pudgy cute little feet would you want them crammed into something stiff, flat, and hard? Of course not! Baby Baby Baby Fever!  Anyone else got it?  I love this new Diaper bag I got it from Balboa Baby!  The super lightweight design is perfect for us because when Miss Aly Visits I need something that isn’t to heavy to carry along why she is in my arms as well. 

The quilted design of the Lime Poppy Messenger bag is so unique as well.  But don’t get me wrong when I said this bag is lightweight, this bag is big enough to hold several outfits, diapers, and all the necessities of a newborn or a two year old!  I especially love the bottle holders on the inside and there is even a little pouch for the diaper wipe case which saves from the searching and digging!  Gotta love Balboa for thinking up this incredible design!

Write on the Walls

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, I love decorating (even though I’m terrible at it).  Right on the Walls has a solution, find a wall and write on it (stick it)!

 Now we have tried these before with a different company and by the time I was done hubby had to come home and finish it. So I have been putting off putting up my Right on the Walls decals for some time.  I was not looking forward to this experience again. Surprise, this time I did it all on my own!  These were super easy to apply and I didn’t have one bit of trouble.

I choose to put these up in the kid’s TV room because we just put this wall up and I couldn’t find anything that was safe for those rough and tumble boys.  This design is perfect above the light weight picture frame and their little Moose Heads they made.

Neater Feeder

 This week the mail man brought Jen more than just another box, Jen’s Neater Feeder arrived.  To tell you the truth I was really nervous about how she would like it.  She is 17 years old and so stubborn and prissy! She has to have her water in a coffee cup if that tells you anything.

Setting up Neater Feeder was super easy and although they come in three sizes, there was also extension stands to make it taller incase I ordered the wrong size.  However the cat size was really perfect for Jen.

When I took away her coffee cup, I only imagined what she was going to do to torture me into putting it back, but I woke up the next morning without any surprises left outside my door or on the floors so that was a start.  For the first two days she wouldn’t let us see her eating out of her Neater Feeder but now she is used to it and doesn’t care who is watching. That was a really and quick and painless transition, surprisingly.

  So what is this Neater Feeder? It’s one of those Ah-Ha moments where I wish I had found it a long time ago.  Jen purposely spills her water and food and maybe it’s as much to make a mess but I swear it’s to make a point.  Well she can’t do that anymore with the Neater Feeder so I am officially sticking my tongue out at her saying “take that”.   

The Neater Feeder is designed with a slight angle and drainage holes so any water she spills in it falls right on through to the catcher below.  And for those times she pulls her food out, it catches that as well but just in front of her dish.  This thing is great!  My anticipation is not cleaning up anymore spilled water or cat food ever again!  It’s just about 17 years late though.  Oh well better late than never.

As I started laundry this morning I realized I was officially out of laundry soap but I am disgusted at the cost of everything just seems to be going up and up. Then I remembered a friend of mine telling me she makes her own and I knew it was at least worth trying. 

When we went shopping, I grabbed the box of Borax ($3.38) but forgot the washing soda so I began to do a little research and see if I could find either difference recipes or alternatives to the washing soda. What I did find out is that not only can you make your own washing soda by cooking baking soda but I already had some with our pool supplies. Washing soda is sodium carbonate the same exact pH stabilizer we use in our pool. So while we have a huge bag I understand that you may not. Find out how to make your own here. HOMEMADE WASHING SODA

So now to make your laundry soap. This does make about 5 gallons I would suggest a 5 gallon bucket.

Ingredients

· 1 cup Borax
· 1 cup washing soda
· 1 bar Fels Naptha soap
· One 5 Gallon bucket
· water

To start, the Fels-Naptha needs to be broken down into small pieces.  To microwave the soap, put it in a microwave safe bowl and cook it on high in 30 second intervals. After each interval, give it a quick stir or chop to help break it up. It takes about 4 minutes to get the soap broken down into small enough pieces to use. 

Once the soap is broken up, place it in a pot on the stove and add 4 cups of water. 

Cook on medium low, stirring frequently, until all of the Fels-Naptha is dissolved. This took about 10 minutes to get it all dissolved. Also if your mixture starts to foam up where it doubles in size take it off the burner. You do not want to make a mess of course.

Add the Borax and washing powder and stir until it is completely dissolved.

Pour your mixture into a 5 gallon bucket and then fill the bucket with water.  

I then filled up a smaller container out of my 5 gallon bucket to keep handy in the laundry room. Before each use, shake the container just to be sure everything is mixed well.

Use a ¼ cup of soap for each normal load.

The finished product takes on some interesting consistencies as it cools down. It goes from a floating cottage cheese like mixture to a lava lamp type one. By the time it’s cooled completely, it almost completely separates. It’s nothing a little shake won’t cure though.

While making the soap there is definitely a very strong soapy smell. My entire house smells super clean! But it’s not irritating or anything like that. Just clean :)

Can we pretend this was just yesterday that I was furnishing my very first place all on my own? Well, regardless of how long ago it was, I still remember having very limited money and trying to be a grown up by furnishing everything I needed right off the bat. From storage containers to the coffee maker, it was a little overwhelming. But gradually we made it work.

Now I found Dormco.com and they have everything a beginner needs right at the click of a mouse. Dormco is specifically geared towards college students but I found several things that either I wouldn’t mind having or would love to get the boys, including some awesome trunks that would be amazing for their rooms!

When I ordered it, I really didn’t pay much attention to the size, I was thinking this would be a great baby boy blanket and went on. At 48x60, this is not only a great blanket to keep warm with, but this will be a great blanket to lay little man down on the floor with. 

The texture and thickness is incredible as well! The blanket is extremely soft and really well made. I recommend this for little men and maybe some big boys to because the overall quality is awesome!

Garnier Olia Oil Powered Perm. Color

I have always enjoyed the Garnier products and recently they came out with Garnier Olia Oil Powered Permanent Color so of course I had to try it!

The Garnier Olia Oil is available in 24 different shades so choosing the right color for me wasn’t a problem at all.  Plus being ammonia free, I was even able to convince hubby to help me do my hair.  Who says you can’t be pampered at home? Ha! The new bottle design is easy to hold and made it really easy to apply the color.  The overall components of the solution were really enjoyable and worth checking out.

I however have been trying to let my hair grow out and it’s past my shoulders by a few inches now.  I am so proud! But the solution that came in the bottle was barley enough to do half my hair so if your hair is as long as mine, I would recommend getting 2 or even 3 bottles of this.

 Who says you can’t get pampered at home, hubby even took the time to do my hair for me but sadly I was only able to do about half my hair.  My hair is just below my shoulders so it’s considered long even though I would like it longer. 

Caring for Baby Teeth

 Caring for your baby’s teeth are just as important as caring for your own.  Those tiny little teeth hold a place for your baby’s adult teeth and by brushing you are securing a safe and healthy mouth in your little love.  Without this proper hygiene you will allow bacteria and plaque to stick around and the bacteria alone can be harmful to not only your baby’s teeth but their overall health. 

When do you start brushing their teeth?

You should start caring for your baby’s mouth right away, before teeth push through you can use a small piece of gauze or a moist washcloth to gently clean their gums twice a day, especially after feedings and before bed.

After your baby’s first teeth start to peek through, you can begin to use a toothbrush but you should choose a soft brush with a small head and a large handle to prevent slipping.  Before they are 1, just use a wet toothbrush, after that you can consult your doctor for approved non-fluoridated toothpaste.
